MatchTime
Version 1.0.0
MatchTime is a matching Game for PalmOS Handhelds.
MatchTime Requires Palm OS 3.5 or greater!, A color device is preferred but not required.

*The demo version of MatchTime may be launched up to 10 times over a period not to exceed 20 days. If either of those limits are reached, MatchTime Demo will no longer function on that specific device.

MatchTime's Game Play works as follows:
  1. Set the Options for the mode you wish to play in the Game Settings.
  2. Choose a mode to play (Fun, Timed, or Expert).
  3. Start the Game.
  4. The pieces are shuffled then displayed on the screen for an amount of time. This time is dependant upon the settings, the game mode and/or the multiplier.
  5. The Game Pieces are turned over.
  6. Start Matching! Select pieces two at a time in an attempt to match the pieces.
  7. Scoring is based upon Matches, Misses, Consecutive Matches, and Time taken to complete the level. Scoring is mode and setting dependant.
  8. When you clear the board or if time runs out you'll see how well you did or didn't score ;)

Wash, Rinse Repeat, until you've improved your matching skills or have gone nuts in the process :)
MatchTime has 3 modes of play, each adds a level of complexity to the prior mode:
  1. Fun
Fun is the most basic mode. In fun mode you get 6 minutes to attempt to clear the board. You can change the multiplier which effects the number of seconds you get to preview the board.

  2. Timed
Timed builds upon Fun, by shortening the 6 Minute game time to either 5, 3, or two minutes.

  3. Expert
Expert builds on Timed by adding a limit to the number of bad Guesses you can have in a game.

MatchTime Options:
Time Limit: 5, 3, or 2 Minutes
Only applicable in Timed or Expert Mode
Multiplier: Points are earned for each successive match without a miss. The base points for each match starts at 5 points. The Multiplier effects two things: (1) the amount of time you get to preview the board & (2) the base point value. Example: The 3x multiplier only gives you approximately 2 seconds to preview the board but provides 3x or 15 points per match. The match base value increases with each successive match. Example the first match with no multiplier is worth 5, the next 10, the following 15, after a miss (which subtracts points) the next match will be worth 5 again.
Allowed Misses: Only applicable in Expert Mode. For the serious match player!
Enable Sounds: Toggles if MatchTime is silent or not. Game Mode: Each game board provides for 32 individual pieces. (2 matches x 32). To make the game a little more tolerable, you can change to 16 Pieces. 16 Unique pieces placed in the game 4 times Each.
Pieces: MatchTime comes complete with four sets of game pieces.

Match Time Paying Tips
  • MatchTime Detects Pen 'Taps'. A tap is the process of pressing the stylus onto the screen and lifting it. MatchTime discriminates taps in that the up location must be within a few pixels of the down location. For best performance make sure you 'Tap' and not drag or hold the stylus on the screen. If match time feels unresponsive, recallibrate your Palms digitizer.
  • When you're totally frustrated... You can write an 'H' or 'h' in the graffiti area to get a flash of the entire board. This is not without penalty though. Each 'Hint' you take docks your score by 40 points times the multiplier. You can easily end up with a negative score if you take too many hints.
  • Moving Fast. After each Bad match, MatchTime gives you a second or two to view the pieces that you turned over. If you tap on another piece, you can shorten this period and keep things moving faster. You cannot tap on a piece that is already flipped.
