GODORIS

l       What is ¡®GO-STOP¡¯ ?

GO-STOP is a traditional Korean card game like Pocker matching cards from each suite representing 12 months. This game aims at winning as much money as possible by reaching three points to beat others. This is a very exciting game because it has many optional rules to win a game

Godoris is a name of ¡®GO-STOP¡± software, made by www.chamgame.com. Godoris accommodates to all rules of GO-STOP and contains its exciting elements

1. Card Description

The deck consists of 50 small plastic cards, each with a picture of flowers, animals, landscape and similar nature themes.

There are four cards per suit, twelve suits representing a family of 12 months, with two optional bonus cards.

All the cards of a suit, with the exception of Rain representing 12th month, look very much like one another.

The rain suit is in some ways a bad luck suit.

The cards from that suit are not worth exactly what the same card in another suit would be worth.

When you read about points, you will find how Rain suit titles often lessen the points that a set of cards is worth.

2. Scoring Group

The object of collecting cards is to earn points. The reason to earn points is to win the game and higher stakes. Points come from matching cards from different group. Within the game are four set of cards which give you points: Yul, Tti, Kwang, and Pee. Every card in the game falls into one of these four categories, but no card fall into more than one.

Kwang : Each Card has a Chinese character, ÎÃ.

Yul : Each card has either animals or objects

Tti : Each card has a ribbon

Pee : the following cards are ¡°One-Pee¡±

Two-Pee : the following cards are counted a ¡°Two-Pee¡±

3. Collecting Points

(1)   Basic Rule

(a)   Kwang :

You get 15 points when you collect all 5 Kwangs

If you collect 4 Kwangs, with or without the "Rain-Kwang" (the Kwang card of the 12th month), you get 4 points.

If you collect 3 Kwangs but NO Rain-Kwang, you get 3 points.

If you collect 3 kwangs and one of them is the Rain-Kwang, you only get 2 points.

Note that the cards of the 12th Month (Willow or Rain month) are treated differently.
(b) Yul (Animal or Object):

Godori is also known as "Godori," Japanese for "Five Birds." If you collect 3 Yul cards with a bird, it is called Godori and you get 5 points.

If you have no Godori, 5 Yul cards equal 1 point. Any additional Yul cards will be counted as 1 point each (6 Yul cards = 2 points, 7 Yul cards = 3 points). Once you have 7 or more Yul cards, you double your points (if you have 10 points and win with 7 Yuls, your total winning score will be 20 points). Finally, if you have 5 Yuls with Godori (i.e. 3 birds + 2 other Yuls), you get 5 points (because of Godori) + 1 point (because you collected 5 yuls) and so forth.

Note: Yul of 9th month can be used either as Yul or 2-Pee, but not as both.

(c) Tti (Ribbon):

Hong-dan (3 red Ttis with Korean characters), Chung-dan (3 blue Ttis with Korean characters), and Cho-dan (3 plain red Ttis) are all worth 3 points each.

If you get 5 Tti with none of the aforementioned combinations, you get 1 point. You will score an extra point for any additional Tti you collect (1, 2, 3, 4 ribbons = 0 point, 5 ribbons = 1 point, 6 ribbons = 2 points, 7 ribbons = 3 points, etc.). Finally, if you have 5 Tti with a Red, a Blue, or a Black (i.e. one of these combinations + 2 other ribbons), you get 3 points (because of the combination) + 1 point (because you collected 5 ribbons), and so forth.
(d) Pee ("Plain" Group):
When you collect 10 Pee, you can get 1 point, and any additional Pee will be scored as an extra point. There are special 2-Pee cards in Godoris that are worth two-Pee. .

(2) Advanced Rule

(a) You have to keep the following rules in your mind.

¡¤ Go or Stop - The first player who gets 3 points can either call for ¡°Go¡± or "Stop" (Note: 3 points can be calculated based on various combinations). Whenever the player adds ¡°Go¡±, one point per ¡°Go¡± is added each.

¡¤ Bbuk - When the turned-over card happens to be of the same month as the card you have just put down to match the card on the table. In this case, you have to leave all 3 cards on the table (not in the last round, though). Whoever matches the 4th card will get all 4 and gets one Pee from each player.

¡¤ 1st Bbuk - If this happens in the first round, you get five times betting money worth 3 points from everyone. When you have two sequent Bbuk, you get ten times betting money.

¡¤ 3rd Bbuk - If a player has 3 Bbuk in one game, it is considered 20 points and the game ends.

¡¤ NaGaRi - Two cases: 1) No player gets 3 or more points, 2) the player whoever calls for "Go" gets no additional point until the game ends.

¡¤ GoBak - Someone else gets 3 or more points and wins before your turn when you call for "Go." You have to pay for the other players who also lost.

¡¤ Chong Tong - If you have all 4 cards of the same family in your hand, it is counted as 15 points and the game ends.

(b) You can get one Pee from other players in the following situations.

¡¤ PanSseul - When you clear all the cards on the table (e.g., There are only 2 cards left facing up on the table. You put down a card to match 1 card on the table and match the other by turning over a card from the deck).

¡¤ Sseul - When you take all 4 cards in a "Bbuk." Or same 3cards displayed on the table

¡¤ Ddadak – In case you match two cards by throwing one and match two cards by flipping up one but you don't clear the table.

¡¤ Chock - When the turned-over card matches the card you have just put down on the table (the last card won't apply).

¡¤ PokTan - When you have three cards from a suit in your hand (same as ¡°Heundeum¡±) and face up the other card from the suit on the table, you collect all four cards and one Pi from each player

 - When a player have Pan-Sseul, Sseul, Ddadk, Chock, Bbuk at the first round, he/she receives 5 times betting money from the other players.

(c) You can double the score:

¡¤ Three Go - When a player calls for "Go" 3 times and wins.

¡¤ PeeBak - Any player with less than 6 Pee must pay double if the winner has at least 10 Pee. But  a player who got any one Pee isn¡¯t Pee-bak (PB)

¡¤ KwangBak - If the winner wins with Kwangs (3 or more Kwangs), any player who has no Kwang must pay double. If the winner has 5 Kwangs, the other players automatically get KwangBak. (KB)

¡¤ GoBak - If you call the ¡®GO¡¯ After you get 3 point (GB)

¡¤ Mong-tta-bak - The other players have to pay double if one player wins with 7 or more Yuls.

¡¤ Heundeum (shake) - Heundeum means "shake" in Korean and occurs when a player has 3 cards from a suit in his/her hand. If the player who has a Heundeum wins, the other players have to pay double (SW)

¡¤ PokTan : When you have three cards from a suit in your hand( same as ¡°Heundeum¡±) and face up the other card from the suit on the table, you collect all four cards and one Pee from each player. Then, you have two PokTan cards, which indicate you are applied under a special rule – you don¡¯t throw a card but just flip up a card two times.

4. Playing Godori

Godori is played by 3 players (one - palm user, two – cyber users: Com 1, Com 2).  The play goes counterclockwise: the dealer distributes 4 cards to each player, lays 3 cards face up on the table, then distribute 3 other cards to the players and lays 3 cards face up on the table again.  The remaining cards are stacked in the middle, face down.

Godoris is all about matching and scoring. There are 48 cards representing a family of 12 months, each containing 4 cards. In order to match, cards must be from the same month. For scoring, one must understand which cards belong to which scoring group - Kwang, Yul, Tti, and Pee.

The basic rule of the game is to draw one of the cards from your hand to match one of the cards laid on the table. Even if you don't have any matching cards, you still have to put down one card on the table. Then, you should draw the top card from the stack and see if there is a matching card on the table. If there's no matching card, then should put down the card you just drew from the stack on the table. You take all the matching cards and place them in the order of

Kwang, Yul, Tti, and Pee.

The objective of playing Godori is to earn points. Whoever gets 3 points or more first can call for "Go" or "Stop" as the name of the game alludes to. The game ends when a player calls for "Stop" and he/she collects the betting money associated with the points. If the player calls for "Go," then the game resumes. While calling for "Go" can increase your winnings, the player can get a penalty, that is, he/she should pay another betting money instead of the other¡¯s loser, if one player get more that three points before you get additional points.

You will be notified of special events such as "Bbuk" or "DdaDak" in the chat window at the bottom of the game screen. At the end of the game, you will also get a summary of who won or lost, and by how many points and dollars. Note that each point is worth in Godori.

If you need to see what kind of Pees you or the other players have, you can simply cycle through your placed cards by clicking on that particular card group.
